7-Zip, an Open-Source application distributed under the GNU LGPL, is a powerful compression manager with support for a wide range of formats, including 7z. With many configurable features and a friendly interface, 7-zip works with virtually all compressed files and can compress to zip format up to 10% better than other compressors. The most distinctive feature of 7-zip is the use of 7z, a compressed archive file format that works up to 40% better than zip. File types supported are 7z, ARJ, BZ2, BZIP2, CAB, CPIO, DEB, GZ, GZIP, ISO, LHA, LHZ, RAR,and ZIP, among others.
